Second Class Cadet After a three month probationary period, this is when you decide if the ATC for you, you will be issued a uniform and be enrolled as Second Class cadet. During this time you will have already started your General Service Training to gain your First Class Cadet. You will then be able to take part in most activities open to the cadets.

First Class Cadet - Subjects for this level are split into three parts and are: Part 1 - Airmanship I, Map Reading, and Communications. Part 2 - History of the RAF, History and Organisation of the ATC and History of Flight.

- Initial Expedition
Training, First Aid,
The Rifle and Drill theory.

Leading Cadet - Subjects for this level are: Navigation - Basic Navigation, The Compass, Practical Navigation, Weather. Principles of Flight - Lift & Weight, Stalling, Thrust & Drag, Stability & Control, Gliding, The Helicopter. Airmanship II - Air Traffic Control, Rules of the Air, Aircraft Knowledge

Senior Cadet - Two subjects from the following:
Air Navigation,
Pilot Navigation, Propulsion,
Airframes, Aircraft Handling, Operational Flying,
Advance Radio and Radar,
Satellite Communications |

Staff Cadet - Two subjects not taken at senior level from the following: Air Navigation, Pilot Navigation, Propulsion, Airframes, Aircraft Handling, Operational Flying, Advance Radio and Radar, Satellite Communications
Also a Oral exam is taken on the
administration and organisation of the ATC |
